Spicy Sticky Gochujang Wings

These Spicy Sticky Gochujang Wings are sweet, savory, spicy, and packed with bold flavor. Crispy chicken wings are coated in a sticky glaze made with gochujang, sweet Thai chili sauce, honey, lime, and warm five spice seasoning for the perfect balance of heat and sweetness. They are easy enough for weeknight dinners but delicious enough for game day, parties, or whenever you want something seriously flavorful.

Ingredients
  

Wings
  • 1 lb chicken wings split and patted dry
Sticky Sauce
  • 4 tbsp teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp gochujang sauce
  • 3 tbsp sweet Thai chili sauce
  • ¼ tsp Chinese five spice powder
  • 1 lime juiced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger optional
Garnishes
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions
  • Red chili flakes
  • Lime wedges for serving

Method
 

Oven Method (Recommended)
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, gochujang, sweet Thai chili sauce, five spice powder, lime juice, garlic, and ginger.
  4. Toss wings in the sauce and arrange the wings in a single layer on the baking sheet or casserole dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the chicken wings are caramelized.
  5. Spoon over remaining sauce over the chicken wings.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, and/or red chili flakes before serving.
Stovetop Method
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of oil.
  2. Season the wings with salt and pepper and cook for 8–10 minutes, flipping occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients.
  4. Pour the sauce into the skillet and toss the wings until fully coated. Simmer for 2–4 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy and sticky.
  5. Garnish and serve immediately.
